Edgewater State Park is a beautiful asset to the region. It is a pleasant walk from our  house. There are interconnected 'sections' of park: the upper parking lot with trails & spectacular views of downtown, the abandoned beach area, the main picnic area with walkable bluffs, the lower  section (picnic, workout stations, main beach, concession stand, fishing pier, breakwall) and Wendy Park  (wildlife viewing & volleyball courts). People make a special trip to see a spectacular sunset. You can rollerskate or jog on the trails. It is a popular place to fly a kite, we've seen some wonderful types of kites.
These pictures were taken on a warm spring morning, just as the trees were starting to leaf out. Otherwise, it would be hard to get the layout of the park because of the heavy tree cover and shade.  At right, you can see where the Shoreway (Rte 2) empties onto Clifton Blvd. near the overhead sign.
Historic picnic pavilion & bluffs overlooking the main beach
This gently sloping hill is used for winter sledding.
It overlooks the beach.
The Shoreway is seen to the right.
Sometimes a gentle fog rolls in and hugs the shoreline.
